Top roller with shaft
Most undercarriages of excavators and bulldozers are equipped with a top roller with axle. Here, the axle of the upper roller is clamped in a bracket which in turn is welded to the chassis. To be able to clamp the axle , there are usually 1 or 2 bolts in the bracket which ensure that the bracket can be closed more or less.
Top roller with bracket
Some excavator-undercarriages have top rollers with a support or bracket. In other words, the roller is supplied from factory with a pre-assembled bracket.
2 or 4 bolt holes are provided in the support. The top roller can be replaced simply by unscrewing the 2 or 4 vertically mounted bolts that hold the support to the machine.
Top roller without flange
Top rollers without a flange are usually used on mini-excavators. These top rollers are characterized by their cylindrical shape, due to the absence of a center flange (guiding flange).
This type of carrier roller is attached to the undercarriage by mounting the shaft in a bracket welded to the excavator chassis.
