How do I identify a bucket tooth?

Teeth usually bear reference codes or numbers stamped onto the top or side. If the tooth isn't too worn, these numbers remain legible. Sometimes, a brush might be needed to clean the area and make the number readable.

In some cases, the teeth are so worn that no numbers remain visible.

It is still possible to identify a tooth by measuring the tooth pin or the locking mechanism. The pin is often the best-preserved component of the entire tooth system; measuring the locking mechanism or reading a number on it can also help identifing a tooth.

Measuring the worn bucket tooth (external dimensions) isn't always useful: due to wear, excavator teeth can lose several centimeters in wall thickness or length! Relying on such measurements can lead to misinterpretation and incorrect identification.

If identifying the tooth proves too difficult, you can bring the bucket tooth to JANSSEN; our staff is ready to assist you. Contact us today to learn more about our excavator bucket teeth.

My tooth adapter has broken off. What now?

If the tooth adapter has broken off, we can try to identify the broken unit; in that case, simply replacing that single adapter is sufficient. If the adapter is no longer available, we can advise you on switching to a new tooth system (tooth + adapter).

To replace the old adapters you can rely on our services: we can handle the necessary welding work in our workshop!
