Our final drives are always delivered complete, i.e. the reducer (reduction / gearbox) and the hydraulic motor are already assembled together in the factory. So you do not have to reuse old parts of the defective final drive. Also, each final drive is supplied with an accompanying wiring diagram. This way you can be sure where the various hydraulic lines (drain line, 2nd gear and flow/return) need to be connected.

Do you still have doubts about a certain connection, or are you unable to install the travel motor onto your excavator yourself? At JanssenTrack we are always available to guide you through the entire installation process.

How do I maintain my new final drive ?

  • Perform a routine daily check around your machine to identify any oil leaks. If you detect an oil leak on the reducer or the hydraulic motor, do not hesitate to repair it immediately. Oil leaks can be the result of broken lines or lines not properly connected to the hydraulic motor, among other things.
  • After 50 hours of operation, check the final drive mounting bolts to the machine. Check that they are still at torque.
  • For a new final drive, we recommend changing the oil after 50 hours of operation.
  • Check the oil level after 100 working hours Then renew the oil again after 200 working hours
  • Furthermore, change the oil every 500 working hours or at least once a year
  • Whenever the oil is changed, the old oil should be examined for the presence of metal particles. This may, in fact, indicate internal wear within the final drive.

How do I change the oil of my final drive ?

The final drives 2 plugs A & B on the gearbox cover (reduction) for checking of the oil level and replacing of the oil. Turn the final drive until plug A is in the lowest position.

  • Place a tray under the final drive and unscrew plug A first and then plug B. Oil will flow out of the final drive through opening A.
  • As soon as the final drive is empty, close plug A and add a degreasing liquid through opening B. Then close plug B.
  • Run the final drive for about 5 minutes so that the degreasing liquid can degrease the entire inside. After this, drain the degreaser according to the steps described earlier for draining the oil.
  • Now screw plug A back on and rotate the final drive until plug A is about 15° below the horizontal centerline as shown in the illustration below.

What oil should I use for my final drive ?

We recommend using transmission oil or 80W90. Our wiring diagram also shows which oil to use.

When should I change the oil on my final drive ?

Oil changes should be done every 500 working hours or at least once a year.

How do I replace my final drive ?

Disassembly:

  • Remove the rubber tracks or steel tracks from your machine.
  • Remove the cover/plate on the rear of the final drive to gain access to the manifold and hydraulic lines of the final drive.
  • Mark the hydraulic lines so you can more easily identify them later
  • Now remove the hydraulic lines and seal them with a cap. This way the pipes will not get contaminated with dust, sand,…
  • Remove the sprocket from the drive.
  • Finally, disassemble the drive by loosening the bolts on the inside of the frame.

Assembly:

  • Place the final drive on the machine and attach the bolts ; tighten the bolts to torque
  • Fix the hydraulic lines to the driving motor. Don’t forget your marking from earlier. Note that the drain line should always be connected to the upper inlet (connection).
  • Then assemble the cover/protection plate back onto the frame
  • Finally, the sprocket and then the steel or rubber tracks can be reassembled.
